Trivia
- Katt / Rinpoo was partially inspired by a character from the 1970 Japanese sci-fi manga, WolfGuy (ウルフガイ) written by Kazumasa Hirai and illustrated by Hisashi Sakaguchi. In the manga, there is a Chinese girl that can turn into a tiger called “Huu-Su” (フースー).
- Katt learns 3 very powerful offensive spells early in the game, but is unable to use them until late-game due to very low AP gains. Breath of Fire II writer Makoto Ikehara attributed this to Katt’s admiration for wisdom and intelligence and her desire to be like Nina. The fact she can learn powerful magic shows she can become someone like Nina, while her inability to actually use said magic means she’s still not mature enough to achieve that.
- Speaking to the monster hunter at the entrance of the Huntldge (Hunt Lodge) with Katt in the lead will result in unique dialogue where the hunter will refer to her as a Woren. This is the first instance of the term being used in the series to refer to Katt’s tribe.
- Having shamanized Katt in the lead when speaking to potential feline TownShip resident Akky and her fellow cats will allow you to understand them.
- The game’s credits list her full name as “Rinpoo Chuan”. “Chuan” (ちゅわあん) in this case is simply a cutesy way of saying “chan”, a Japanese honorific added to a person’s name to cutesify it.
