Here’s some trivia and fun facts about Breath of Fire.

A few Capcom characters appear in Breath of Fire as cameos / easter eggs.

A portrait of Arthur, the protagonist of the Ghosts ‘n Goblins / Ghouls ‘n Ghosts (Makaimura / 魔界村 in Japan) series, can be found in several houses in the game, including Ryu’s room where the game begins.1 Breath of Fire’s producer is Tokuro Fujiwara (Professor F), who created Ghosts ‘n Goblins.

There is a character sprite used for a couple of village NPCs that bears a close resemblance to Dr. Wily, villain of the Mega Man (Rockman / ロックマン in Japan) series.

Blue Qipao

Chun-Li from Street Fighter II can be seen in her blue qipao outfit practicing her “Hyakuretsukyaku” (“Hundred Rending Kicks” AKA “Lightning Kick”) in Bleak.2

To see this, the player must speak with the magician in the northwestern house in Bleak. After agreeing to put money on the table, the player must select “No” twice, followed by “Yes” to see Chun-Li.3

Once the DkKey has been obtained in the L. Keep, this cameo will become inaccessible.

Red Qipao

If the player says “No” to the magician 24 times before saying “Yes”, Chun-Li’s qipao outfit will be red instead of blue, echoing her alternate color outfit from Street Fighter II’: Champion Edition.

As an additional secret, if the player has the BrokenSD (Broken Sword) equipped on Ryu prior to the final boss battle and achieves the True Ending, Chun-Li will be present in Drogen during the ending sequence.
